چکیده

OBJECTIVE To observe the topographic localization of the brachial artery termination. METHODS This study was conducted at the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from December 2011 to February 2013. The bifurcation level of the brachial artery was determined in relation to the neck of the radius. Normal and abnormal terminations of the brachial artery were recorded. RESULTS In 13 cases (21.7%), the bifurcation of brachial artery was normal. In 33 cases (6%), the bifurcation level was a few centimeters below the neck of the radius. In 7 cases (11.7%), the bifurcation level was above the radial neck in the area of cubital fossa. In 6 cases (10%), the termination of the brachial artery was found to be above the middle of the front of the arm. In one of the previous cases, the radial artery arose from the brachial artery on the medial side of the ulnar artery. In one case (1.7%), the radial and the ulnar arteries originated directly from the axillary artery, the brachial artery was absent. CONCLUSION Morphological variations of the brachial artery are common findings and should be considered by surgeons when performing procedures in the brachial artery area.

Case Report: A Case Report on Variation in Bifurcation of Brachial Artery

Variations in arterial anatomy are less frequent, contrary to the venous system, and most of these variations affect visceral arteries. Variations in the brachial artery are the most frequently reported and so far a minimum of six different patterns have been described. The most common of these patterns is the superficial brachial artery, which lies superficially to the medi...

Variation in Bifurcation Pattern of Brachial Artery

Recognizing the arterial variations of human upper extremities is of potential clinical practice because this area is involved in arterial handling and invasive medical procedure. During dissection of the left upper limb of a 35-year-old male embalmed cadaver, we saw brachial artery bifurcation in the middle third of proximal portion of the arm. Its medial branch descended along the medial side...

Paper: A Case Report of a Rare Variation in Arising Branches of Brachial Artery

Variations in the arterial pattern of the upper limb are abundant and diverse and have been observed frequently either in cadaver dissection or in clinical practice and reports. In the most of these reports, radial or ulnar arteries were commonly involved, which can be damaged during surgical procedures. This report presents a case of a rare variation in arising branches of brachial artery. Dur...

Variation in Branches of Brachial Artery

The Brachial artery is continuation of the axillary artey. This artery started from lower border of Tres major muscle, and discends the length of arm, and the near of elbow divided in to ulnar and radial artery. In discection cudavr of a man with 65 yeard old with grants method, we observed the biforcation of the brachial artery was in level of corachobrachialis muscle. The main branches was Br...

Duplication of the radial artery - a case report

During routine dissection of a 65-year-old male cadaver, for undergraduate students of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College and Hospital, we came across a rare anatomical variation of vasculature of the left forearm. Four centimeters below the bifurcation of the brachial artery, the radial artery split into a medial and a lateral branch. Both the branches ran individually for a distance of ei...
